I'm a fifth year graduate student studying polymer self-assembly in Materials Science and Engineering. Too frequently, graduate student success or failure is determined by factors completely out of a graduate's control. A union empowers grad students to establish better working conditions, benefits, and safety nets so grad student success is not a game of chance.
Communications and Outreach Chair
I'm a teaching assistant in the physics department and three years into my degree program. Cornell's graduate teaching and research staff deserve a union that can effectively organize their membership and activism to improve their material conditions.
GRADUATE & PROFESSIONAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION LIAISON
I'm a sixth-year PhD student and instructor in the English department working in the fields of Black studies and American studies. I'm invested in working to help graduate students at Cornell achieve legally-binding power in our relationship with our employers in the University. When I'm not researching, teaching, or doing activist work on and off campus, I'm working on my lifelong practice of martial arts.
GRIEVANCES STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIR
DANNY ROSENBERG DANERI
ORGANIZING STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIR
I’m a sixth year Mechanical Engineering PhD student who spends a lot of time thinking about crystal dynamics, baseball, and legally binding contracts that protect grad workers. Cornell’s a business, and it couldn’t run without our work—rather than expect us to blindly take whatever they choose to give, it’s time for them to respect us at the negotiating table. I’d love your help in making CGSU an open, accessible community that listens to and fights for all grad workers.
SECRETARY (LEGAL AFFAIRS STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIR)
I am a fifth year PhD student in the Ecology and Evolutionary Biology program at Cornell. I am here to help build CGSU into a strong collective bargaining unit so we can guarantee a fair work environment for Cornell's grad student workers instead of merely betting on it.
RESEARCH & CONTRACT STANDING COMMITTEE CHAIR
I'm a fifth year student in the economics department studying industrial organization and environmental issues. I believe a union gives us a surefire way to protect and improve our working conditions while giving graduate students a say in how we're treated.
I am a second year PhD student in the Center for Applied Mathematics with a fondness for dynamical systems, comic books, and grassroots labor movements. I am looking forward to using my budgeting, accounting, and union payroll work experience for CGSU's interests, and to working with a diverse and engaged membership to advocate for improved security, conditions, and rights for graduate workers.
